Welcome to Streams of Whiskey!

I am going, I am going, any which way the wind may be blowing,
I am going, I am going, where streams of whiskey are flowing.

Gander Flyers

Before I moved I was gifted with a Gander Flyers toque (Senior Men's hockey team from Newfoundland). Decided to follow it up with some Flyers nails so here they are in the purple and gold.

4 months of catch up

I did not realize I had neglected updating for so long. It began with me moving my computer before I physically moved so I lost the ability to upload photos (blogger was not cooperating with my work computer). Then it was unpacking, and I didn't have a desk, and so forth. So let's cram everything from October until now into this one post. In October, with the return of the NHL season, the classic Montreal Canadiens nails. I also tried out a Montreal Canadiens style french tip on the left hand.

Then in November it was Remembrance Day nails, made a bit more poignant after the shootings on Parliament Hill, hence the black and the Forget-me-nots. Poppies and maple leaves on the tips.

Also in November there was a tribute to my favourite comic - Lumberjanes! Featuring some of the Lumberjanes badges up to that point. These were the "Up All Night", "Space Jamborie", "Friendship to the Craft", "Naval Gauging", and just hearts on the left hand. On the right (from thumb to pinkie) "Friendship to the Max" [which I think should be 'friendship to the ax'], "Jail Break", "Pungeon Master", "Robyn Hood", and "Everything Under the Sum" badges.

In December after I moved it was Xmas nails featuring candy cane stripes and Mummers (to remember Newfoundland by).

And finally at the end of December/start of January were World Juniors nails. And Canada won gold so huzzah!

Working on new nails now, hopefully I won't be as remiss in updating for a while.

Canada Day 2012

With Germany very (VERY) sadly out of the Euros, I made a change to proper Canada Day/Memorial Day nails. Just a simple design. On the fingers, white Maple leaf outlines. On the thumbs, forget-me-nots (the flower of remembrance for Newfoundlanders before they joined Canada and adopted the poppy, or so I've heard).

Newfoundland Beer

While sitting at the Duke one evening for some football/hockey, this idea was proposed to me. So here is a representative sample of some Newfoundland beers. On the left hand: Black Horse, Blue Star, Storm's Irish Red, and Yellowbelly's St. John's Stout. On the right: India, Quidi Vidi's Honey Brown, Jockey Club, and Dominion Ale. Little bottles on the pinkies.

Republic of Doyle

At the beginning of December, Republic of Doyle was filming downtown St. John's. So what better nails to do than Republic nails. On the right hand is Jake in his car, Malachy on the index, the CBC logo in the middle, Des on the ring and some stylized row houses on the pinkie. On the left hand is Jake's car, CBC logo in middle, the Narrows on the ring, and the Republic of Newfoundland flag on the pinkie. I was going to do Rose on the index but didn't have a colour I thought would work for her hair so it was left blank. Also included is a picture of the car they blew up for Season 3.

Summer in St. John's

From the request of a friend my nails got decked out for tourist season in St. John's. On the fingers some jellybean row nails based off the colourful houses of downtown St. John's. The left hand has some classic primary colours (and green) while the right incorporates some more modern shades such as the orange and purple houses... though there might not be an actual house that shade of purple. Yet. On the thumb of the right hand is Cabot Tower on Signal Hill with a Union Jack just for the fun of it. And former British Colony and all that. On the right is a puffin because they're pretty fun even though I've never seen one.
